Responsibilities

Contribute to our communities by helping the Utah Office of Recovery Services (ORS) in their mission to promote responsibility, by providing child support services and support for children in care to help ensure parents are financially responsible for their children. The Accounting Unit in the Taylorsville ORS office is looking for a dedicated individual to work as is an Accounting Technician II. This position responsible for posting payments for Child Support and Medical Collections. We are looking for a motivated, friendly, team-oriented individual who will:

Starting Rate: $16.01 (Includes ORS differential)

  • Post large volume of payments to accounts
  • Contact or respond to client inquiries complying with ORS policy and procedures
  • Conduct research to analyze facts and applies knowledge to postings
  • Reconcile and balancing of accounts and spreadsheets

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications

Proficient typing skills

Proficient 10-key skills

Have basic Accounting and math skills to resolve balancing issues

Use computer relational database software

Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form

Establish, organize and/or maintain electronic files

Make a decision or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions

Principles, practices and procedures of an office environment

Review and/or edit documents for accuracy and completeness

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and excel

Proficient typing skills

Proficient 10-key skills

Capacity to make informed decisions based on fact, laws and rules

Able to navigate and handle difficult situations and conversations with angry customers

Speak clearly, concisely, and effectively: listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally

Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing

Positive history of professional communication with internal and external customers

Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize and complete assignments within time constraints

Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
