Construction Inspector

About the Job: We are currently accepting resumes for a Site Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have civil works field experience related to backbone infrastructure, water and wastewater installations, including tanks and pipelines. The ideal candidate will also be generally local to the cities of Riverbank and Patterson, California.
We welcome retired foremen and superintendents seeking to transition into an
Inspector of Record role. This position offers flexible work arrangements and competitive

Responsibilities
- Prepare daily reports for all construction activity, obtain and document all materials tags during construction. Supplement inspection records with photographs
- Track deficiencies and nonconformance and their corrective actions, document in Daily Report
- Attend project meetings as needed with client and the contractors for the duration of the project
- Work in close coordination with material testing personnel, obtain and document testing records
- Assure that the contractor's construction operations are being conducted in a safe manner in accordance with the project's Traffic Control Plan and CAL-OSHA Construction Safety Order
- Administer the project to assure all elements of the actual construction are furnished, installed and constructed in accordance with the Project Approved Plans and Specifications
- Inspect the construction of all on-site and off-site improvements per contract
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proficient in civil construction inspections
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills
- Extensive knowledge of job site safety
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Journey-level class with independence of action, judgement and discretion in interpreting plans and specs and enforcing local, state and federal construction regulations.
- Public buildings, airport paving, sidewalks and accessible curb ramps, mass grading, concrete structures, streetlights and traffic signals, landscaping and C.3 Storm Water Controls.
- Basic soils engineering principles
- Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the
required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of progressively responsible construction inspection experience or 15+ years of general construction experience or 5+ years of experience similar to that of a soil technician with public works field inspection responsibilities or similarly responsible experience in public works construction including work in any of the following areas: grading and paving, underground utilities, forming and pouring concrete structures
- Experience working on public works prevailing wage projects
- Experience working on backbone infrastructure and wastewater treatment facilities recommended
- 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety certification preferred
- Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade
Salary
- Experienced inspector or DOE and prevailing wage as required
Working Conditions
- Requires extensive physical exertion during on-site inspection
- Will require physical flexibility and dexterity, including the ability to continually stand, bend, stoop, reach, crouch and climb
- May require sitting for long periods of time
- Working with and understanding how to read construction documents
- Requires driving to and visiting job sites and clients
License: Posses and maintains a valid Class C California Driver's License
