Portland Schooner Co. (portlandschooner.com) invites applications for a seasonal

(possible part-time, year-round) admin position to help support our public sail, special event, and charter business.

Applicants must be able to engage with guests in a friendly, helpful manner and confidently explain and educate potential customers and charter guests about our boats and sailing options.

Primary responsibilities can include:

  • Responding to email inquiries as directed
  • Answering phone inquiries, providing directions as requested, or directing to the correct contact
  • Managing incoming charter inquiries and getting them into the tracking system
  • Managing one of our three dock houses - opening and closing the space, maintaining and selling product
  • Assist with handling day-to-day sail logistics as directed

Potential responsibilities can include:

  • Checking in guests for public sails, private charters, and special events
  • Securing and delivering supplies for private charters and special events
  • Supporting the team and even riding along as event support for private charters and special events
  • Helping stock food, drink, and inventory supplies for events
  • Running errands to the bank or local stores as needed
  • Capturing content for social media and developing posts for the team to implement
  • Attending and providing content from events
  • Working special events on the boats, serving food and drinks to guests.
  • Interacting professionally with clients via phone, email, and in person

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Attention to detail
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Positive attitude
  • Excellent oral communication skills and phone demeanor
  • Good computer skills are a must
  • Previous sales or event planning experience
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely fashion
  • Organized and accurate
  • Enthusiasm for the boating industry
  • Ability to cheerfully engage with people and offer helpful information about our sailing experiences.
  • Capable of working both alone and with a team
  • Ability to follow directions and take initiative as needed
  • Prior sales, retail, event planning, restaurant, hospitality, customer service, or administrative experience helpful

Hours and Compensation

  • 40 hours a week
  • 9:45 AM to 6:15 PM with a 30-minute lunch break
  • $17-$19/ hour
