Position Overview
Idaho Site Works is seeking a knowledgeable and business-minded In-House Legal Counsel to support our construction operations. This role will serve as a key advisor to leadership, providing legal guidance across contracts, risk management, compliance, and dispute resolution within the construction industry.
The ideal candidate will have experience in construction law, contract negotiation, and a proactive approach to mitigating legal risk while supporting business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction-related agreements, including subcontracts, vendor agreements, client contracts, and NDAs
- Advise on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and dispute avoidance strategies
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify legal risks and develop practical solutions to minimize exposure
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Idaho-specific construction laws
- Support insurance claims, bonding matters, and lien rights
- Dispute Resolution
- Manage and resolve disputes with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, arbitration, or mediation as needed
- Assist in claims preparation and defense
- Corporate & Operational Support
- Advise leadership on business decisions, policies, and legal implications
- Support employment-related matters in collaboration with HR
- Maintain corporate governance and documentation
- Training & Process Improvement
- Develop internal policies and best practices for contract and legal processes
- Provide guidance and training to project managers and leadership on legal topics
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Idaho (or ability to obtain promptly)
- 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in construction, real estate, or related industries
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, liens, and dispute resolution
- Experience working with contractors, developers, or infrastructure projects preferred
