Position Overview
The FSQA Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining the facility's food safety and quality systems to ensure safe, compliant products that meet customer and regulatory requirements. This role coordinates implementation and maintenance of HACCP, GMP, sanitation, allergen control, and other preventive programs; manages document control and training; coordinates internal and thirdparty audits; supports supplier quality and traceability/recall programs; and leads continuous improvement and corrective action efforts to drive compliance to FSMA, FDA, USDA and recognized certification schemes (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000).
Key Responsibilities
- Support development, implementation and maintenance of HACCP, GMP, SSOPs, sanitation programs and CCP/PRP controls across production lines.
- Coordinate and administer allergen control programs including segregation, labeling, cleaning validation and verification.
- Manage document control and SOP creation/revision to ensure uptodate procedures, records and training materials.
- Plan, coordinate and support internal audits and thirdparty audits (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000), and prepare sites for certification and regulatory inspections.
- Perform routine facility inspections, environmental monitoring and verification activities and follow up on nonconformances.
- Oversee microbiological and QC testing programs, review results, and coordinate actions with production and lab teams; work with LIMS to manage sample data and reporting.
- Lead root cause investigations and CAPA processes, driving timely corrective actions and verification.
- Coordinate supplier quality activities including raw material specifications, supplier approvals, audits and nonconforming supplier management.
- Maintain and update traceability and recall plans; coordinate mock recalls and execute actual recalls when necessary.
- Develop, deliver and track FSQA training for employees and contractors on food safety, GMPs, allergen awareness, sanitation and audit readiness.
- Support food defense and vulnerability assessments and implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (production, R&D, procurement, QA lab, regulatory) to ensure product specifications, change control and quality requirements are met.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on risk reduction, compliance, process controls and reduction of customer complaints.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Technology, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience in food safety/quality roles within food manufacturing; experience with FSQA coordination, audits and regulatory compliance.
- Practical knowledge and experience with HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, allergen control and sanitation verification.
- Experience with recognized food safety schemes and audit standards (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000) and FSMA requirements.
- Proven experience managing internal and thirdparty audit programs and audit preparation.
- Familiarity with microbiological testing, QC testing, LIMS and lab result interpretation.
- Strong experience in document control, SOP development, training creation and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead root cause analysis, CAPA and continuous improvement projects.
- Working knowledge of food defense, traceability and recall management practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills and the ability to work crossfunctionally and manage multiple priorities.
- Certifications preferred: HACCP Practitioner, PCQI/Preventive Controls, SQF Practitioner or equivalent.
- Ability to travel to other sites and to work occasional nonstandard hours for audit support or recall events.
