Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for Adjunct Assistant Professors or Adjunct Instructors of Dance in the Department of Drama and Dance. The Dance Program welcomes applications from artists, dance-makers and teachers to contribute to the ballet and/or contemporary dance curriculum. This individual will engage students across a range of experience levels, including dancers from our BFA, BA, and BS in Dance Education degrees, to foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment. We welcome artists who maintain strong networks within the professional field and have experience in teaching advanced curriculum who are interested in investing in a vibrant and evolving dance community.

The mission of the Dance Program is to broaden the students’ vision of dance as a living language. The curriculum is designed to build technical proficiency in the performance of traditional and contemporary forms; to enhance a cultural understanding of dance; to cultivate the art of reflection and constructive dialogue; and to develop each student’s unique voice as an artist.

The Adjunct Assistant Professor or Adjunct Instructor of Dance responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching core courses in the dance program curriculum
  • Develop course syllabi that aligns with the department’s mission and values
  • The ability to teach across a broad student body with students from various levels of experience and cultural backgrounds
  • Supporting efforts to create an inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Qualifications

  • MFA or BFA in Dance or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Quals Summary

  • Teaching experience in higher education
