DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Muse Knoxville is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and relationship-focused Development Coordinator to support the museum’s fundraising, donor stewardship, and capital campaign efforts. This role plays a key part in advancing Muse Knoxville’s mission by ensuring donors, sponsors, and funders are meaningfully engaged, recognized, and stewarded.
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Development Coordinator will support daily development operations including donor database management, stewardship communications, grant applications and reporting, and coordination of annual sponsorships and operational gifts at the four-figure level or below. This role will also assist with planning, coordination, and logistical support of fundraising, stewardship, and donor engagement events. Will support administrative efforts related to Muse Knoxville’s capital campaign and expansion into the Jacob Building.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; Approximately 40 hours per week; occasional evening and weekend Opportunity to be a hybrid role, with supervisor approval.
STATUS: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $45,000 - $48,000
AS THE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR, YOU WILL …
- Provide administrative support for Muse Knoxville’s capital campaign and expansion into the Jacob Building
- Assist with campaign tracking, campaign committee support, donor records, pledge documentation, and recognition systems
- Support preparation of campaign materials, updates, and donor communications
- Help coordinate campaign-related meetings, reports, events, and stewardship activities
- Support and track timely donor and sponsor acknowledgments including thank-you letters, emails, and recognition lists
- Maintain donor recognition records including campaign recognition, annual reports, signage, and CRM/database
- Process donations, pledges, sponsorships, and related documentation
- Generate reports and data summaries to support fundraising strategy and leadership decision-making
- Support preparation of local grant applications and sponsorship requests
- Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission timelines
- Assist with grant reporting, impact documentation, and funder communications
- Assist with planning, coordination, and logistical support of fundraising, stewardship, and donor engagement events
THIS POSITION HAS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS
- Passion for Muse Knoxville’s mission to inspire children through play-based STEAM learning
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in nonprofit organizations, fundraising, development, philanthropy support, or event coordination preferred
- Comfort working with databases/CRM systems, spreadsheets, and digital tools (Google Workspace, Blackbaud Altru, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records
- Professional and warm communication style when interacting with donors and community partners
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical donor stewardship
- Must pass a background check
