Position Overview

T he NIH Clinical Center is the nation’s largest hospital devoted entirely to clinical research. As a Medical Support Assistant supporting the Nursing Department, you will deliver dependable administrative and patient support in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity research environment.

You will interact directly with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and clinical staff, helping to ensure clinical workflows run smoothly and patients receive coordinated, compassionate care. This is a long‑term, full‑time position requiring prior healthcare experience.

What You’ll Do

• Patient Scheduling & Visit Management
• Admissions & Registration Support
• Reception & Administrative Operations
• Clinical & Patient Travel Support

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting with direct, in‑person patient contact
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to quickly learn clinical systems
• Effective written and verbal communication in English
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Important: The Government does not provide training for candidates without healthcare experience. Prior healthcare experience is a strict requirement for this position.
