We are seeking an experienced and driven
Program Manager to support the NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department in Bethesda, MD. This is a rare opportunity to lead operations at the nation’s premier clinical research hospital, where groundbreaking medicine, patient-centered care, and innovation come together every day.
As the Program Manager, you will oversee Medical Support Assistant (MSA) operations supporting the Nursing Department and serve as the critical liaison between contract staff and NIH leadership. Your leadership will directly impact staffing continuity, patient support services, operational excellence, and the overall patient experience for individuals traveling from across the country to receive specialized care available nowhere else.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staffing Operations
- Ensure all Nursing Department positions remain fully staffed with qualified personnel
- Maintain coverage for planned and unplanned absences across all shifts, including evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
- Serve as the primary operational liaison between contractor staff and NIH COR/contracting officials
- Monitor staffing accountability through sign-in systems and attendance oversight
- Provide rapid staffing updates and notifications to NIH leadership
Qualifications
- Prior leadership experience managing medical support staff in a healthcare, hospital, or clinical setting strongly preferred
- Experience supporting federal healthcare environments or large healthcare systems highly desirable
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation preferred
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn NIH systems
- Must be comfortable working onsite full-time with schedule flexibility
Important Employment Requirements
- Full-time onsite attendance required
- Federal background investigation and NIH PIV badge required prior to start
- Emergency Essential designation applies
- Must comply with all NIH conduct, privacy, confidentiality, and vaccination requirements
