About HYFIX

HYFIX Spatial Intelligence is building the next generation of autonomous drones and robotic lawnmowers for dynamic, unstructured outdoor environments. Our systems enable precision landscaping, spatial mapping, and property maintenance that scales seamlessly, built on top of our proprietary RTK stack. We are developing fully autonomous systems with no humans in the loop and are looking for a Robotics Engineer to help shape the future of intelligent outdoor robotics.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to own key parts of the robotics stack, including navigation, perception, controls, software, and simulation. You will help guide how our robots map, navigate, and operate in complex outdoor environments, ensuring that behavior is rigorously validated in simulation before deployment in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the robotics software stack from low-level vehicle control through high-level autonomy and spatial intelligence.

• Design and implement motion planning, coverage path planning, and real-time control systems for UAVs and UGVs operating in complex outdoor environments.

• Develop and maintain simulation environments in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or Unreal Engine for algorithm validation and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

• Build perception pipelines using multi-camera setups, depth sensors, LiDAR, and RTK-GPS for obstacle avoidance, terrain mapping, and visual-inertial odometry.

• Architect controls and software frameworks for autonomous task execution and safe navigation without human intervention.

• Integrate computer vision models and sensor fusion algorithms (EKF/UKF) for semantic environment understanding and object tracking.

• Define software interfaces between autonomy stacks, onboard compute systems, flight controllers, motor drivers, and mechanical systems.

• Collaborate with mechanical and hardware engineering teams to optimize drive systems, flight dynamics, actuator selection, and sensor placement.

• Support outdoor hardware testing, deployments, and commissioning in real-world environments.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• 2+ years of experience in robotics software development focused on mobile robots, UAVs, navigation, or perception.

• Strong proficiency in ROS2 and real-time Linux environments.

• Experience with vehicle kinematics, flight dynamics, and trajectory/path planning.

• Proficiency in Python and C++.

• Hands-on experience integrating, debugging, and commissioning robotic hardware in the field.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, AirSim, or similar simulation platforms.

• Experience with ground vehicle navigation stacks (Nav2) or UAV flight controllers (PX4, ArduPilot).

• Familiarity with SLAM, visual odometry, GPS/RTK integration, and point-cloud processing.

• Experience deploying computer vision models on edge AI platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson.

• Background in agricultural robotics, delivery drones, autonomous driving, or high-reliability autonomous systems.

• Experience designing for fault tolerance, safe autonomy, and graceful degradation.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Benefits

• Paid Time Off (PTO)

• 401(k) with company matching

• Health, dental, and vision insurance

• Dynamic startup environment with hands-on engineering opportunities
