Position Description
The Broadcast Electronic Media Arts Department ( BEMA ) is seeking enthusiastic and qualified candidates to teach media production courses in one or more of the department’s three teaching focus areas: video production (field and studio); audio production (studio and live); and multimedia content production. At this time, the department has a particular need for a temporary instructor in multimedia content production.
As part of the application, applicants must clearly indicate which one or more of the department’s teaching focus areas they wish to be considered for. Applicants will be considered only for the teaching focus area(s) and course(s) they explicitly identify. Applicants must select specific course(s) from those focus area(s) listed in the Job Duties below and, in a detailed letter of interest, explain how their qualifications, professional experience, and teaching background prepare them to teach the selected course(s).
Job Duties
1. Teach hybrid, online and/or multiple CCSF instructional sites in one or more than one of the following post-secondary level courses:

In the required letter of interest, indicate which course or courses you are able to teach and explain why you are qualified to teach them, referring to the relevant Desirable Qualifications listed below, your professional experience and your teaching background.
2. Design and implement instructional activities and assessments for courses offered in online and in-person modalities in lecture and lab formats. Courses should promote student learning and achievement equitably, in accordance with approved department course outlines and curriculum.
3. Create Canvas LMS modules with interactive lectures, tutorials and assignments; and provide prompt, personalized feedback on student submissions; maintain regular and effective student contact through weekly announcements, asynchronous discussions, and group texts.
4. Collaborate with department colleagues to develop, assess, and report Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and surveys in accordance with department needs and college requirements.
5. Maintain appropriate records in accordance with the policies of the department and the college.
6. Support department instruction-related activities by participating in department meetings, program review, department curriculum, and assessment projects, and industry advisory board meetings as time and schedule permit.
7. Maintain industry contact; keep abreast of changing technologies, and share information and insights with the department.
8. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps. Participate in required department, division, and school meetings, professional development sessions and trainings, and Flex Days.
9. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist pedagogy.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).
2. Earned Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment; OR EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Earned Associate Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;
OR
Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Computer and Related Technologies or Computer Science (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Desirable Qualifications
1. In the multimedia content creation teaching focus, desirable qualifications include demonstrated ability to plan and produce multimedia content across digital platforms, create and manage media assets and workflows in PC and Mac-based environments, guide students in the creation and presentation of professional digital portfolios and online media projects; and demonstrated experience or practical awareness of creating visually rich vlog, social media or promotional campaigns.
2. In the audio production teaching focus, desirable qualifications include advanced-level skill in operating professional recording studio equipment, including large-format analog consoles and patch bays; advanced proficiency with Avid Pro Tools; and live sound experience with advanced-level knowledge of digital mixers, Dante, and/or other networked audio protocols.
3. In the video production teaching focus, desirable qualifications include the demonstrated ability to successfully run studio and field video productions, operate professional cameras, lighting, and audio systems, manage crews and production workflows, and operate television studio equipment such as switchers, monitors, CG systems, teleprompters, and green screen environments.
4. Two or more years of teaching experience with an emphasis in audio, video or multimedia production, in an accredited post-secondary institution. Graduate teaching assistantships or the equivalent may be considered as experience.
5. Two or more years of professional experience in the media industries most closely related to the candidate’s chosen teaching focus.
6. Readiness to work in-person in the BEMA facilities at Ocean campus and Mission Center as directed.
7. Evidence of instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.
8. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students
