Scientist I Neuroscience
AivoCode
Who we are
AivoCode is a neuroscience-driven biotech on a mission to transform how neurological diseases are treated and managed. We build innovative platform technologies that bridge the gap between cutting-edge neuroprotective science and real-world clinical impact — targeting some of the most challenging neurodegenerative and neurological conditions facing patients today. At AivoCode, scientific rigor and a spirit of collaboration power every breakthrough we pursue.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Scientist I to join our Neurobiology team in San Diego. In this full-time, on-site role, you will be at the forefront of our discovery efforts — running cell-based studies that probe the therapeutic potential of our pipeline candidates across neural cell types implicated in Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and ALS. You will bring deep familiarity with in vitro neural models, a sharp eye for experimental design, and practical expertise in the molecular and imaging methods that translate biological insight into drug-development decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate the activity and mechanism of novel therapeutics in neural systems.
- Establish and sustain high-quality primary neuronal and glial cultures — neurons, astrocytes, and microglia — as core experimental platforms.
- Deploy a broad toolkit of molecular and biochemical techniques, including RT-PCR, qPCR, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy, to rigorously characterize therapeutic effects.
- Interrogate key molecular pathways governing neuroinflammation and cellular stress, translating mechanistic findings into actionable insights for the program.
- Stay current with the scientific literature, communicate experimental strategies and results clearly in team settings, and maintain thorough, well-organized project documentation.
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Neuroscience, Neurobiology or a related field. Industry experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with in vitro neuronal and glial cultures.
- Strong command of molecular and imaging assays (RT-PCR, qPCR, SDS-PAGE, immunostaining, confocal microscopy).
- Experience in neurodegenerative pathways or cellular stress and inflammation mechanisms.
- Excellent organizational skills with a disciplined approach to documentation and project tracking.
- Familiarity with drug discovery and development processes is a plus
Authorization
- Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the US
