Program Manager

Greektown Neighborhood Partnership

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Detroit, MI
Contract type: Full time

Company Description

Greektown Neighborhood Partnership is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the long-term economic and cultural vibrancy of Greektown Detroit. Through partnerships, we advance the equitable development of the district through community and economic development programs, all while celebrating our cultural roots. Historic Greektown is the eastern gateway to downtown and encompasses the community bounded by Randolph Street to the west, Gratiot Avenue to the north, I-375 to the east, and Lafayette Street to the south.

In September of 2019, the Greektown Neighborhood Partnership completed and shared the outcomes of a privately funded and community-led urban planning initiative, the Greektown Neighborhood Framework Vision. This Framework was adopted as the neighborhood plan by the City of Detroit and was spearheaded by a group of stakeholders representing the neighborhood’s businesses, organizations, cultural spaces, and families. The purpose of the Framework Vision is to unite the neighborhood, city leaders and planners, private developers, and other stakeholders behind a common vision for the future of Greektown. The Framework focused on five key categories: Public Realm, Mobility and Parking, Culture and History, Development Opportunities, and Neighborhood Experience. Design strategies are based on connecting to surrounding neighborhoods and the downtown core, increasing built density and activation, introducing new public spaces connected by activated pedestrian paths, and creating a mixed-use neighborhood. Armed with an implementable Framework Plan and riding significant momentum, Greektown Neighborhood Partnership is launching a number of initiatives related to public space, vertical development, programming and events, arts, culture, heritage, and mobility.

Role Description

The Greektown Neighborhood Partnership Program Manager will assist in the implementation of the Greektown Neighborhood Framework Vision, focusing on neighborhood programming, activation, beautification, events, marketing, and business resources, assistance, and coordination. Reporting to and working alongside the Executive Director, the Program Manager will spearhead sustainable place-based programming and initiatives in the Greektown Detroit neighborhood while playing a key role in supporting the coordination and implementation of the Monroe Streetscape project.

This role represents a foundational position within a growing organization, with the opportunity to help shape and scale long-term programming, partnerships, and district-wide initiatives in alignment with Greektown’s continued evolution.

Grant-Funded Position & Project Coordination (Monroe Streetscape)

This position is grant-funded through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) as part of the Monroe Streetscape project. The Program Manager will play a critical role in advancing the successful implementation of this transformative public realm investment in Greektown.

At present, the role is fully dedicated to project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and programmatic support directly tied to the Monroe Streetscape project, including but not limited to construction-phase coordination, district activation, business engagement, communications, and real-time problem-solving to support project delivery and minimize disruption to the district.

This role will work closely with the Executive Director, construction team, public agency partners, and district stakeholders to ensure alignment between infrastructure improvements and placemaking, programming, and economic vitality goals outlined in the Greektown Neighborhood Framework Vision.

This position is intended to serve as a foundational role in supporting the organization’s long-term growth, with responsibilities expected to evolve beyond the streetscape project as additional funding is secured. Continuation of the role is contingent upon the availability of future funding.
