Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee execution of commercial construction projects across multiple regions. The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for on-site leadership, safety compliance, quality control, schedule and budget management, and client communication. This role requires proven experience managing Commercial, Automotive, Retail, QSR and Industrial projects, a strong safety background (OSHA 30), and the flexibility to travel frequently to job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage on-site construction activities for multiple projects, ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA 30 requirements and company safety policies across all job sites.
- Coordinate, supervise and evaluate subcontractors and craft labor to maintain productivity and workmanship standards.
- Review construction documents, interpret plans and specifications, and address field conditions with proactive solutions.
- Develop and maintain realistic project schedules; monitor progress and implement corrective actions to meet milestones.
- Manage daily site logistics including coordination of materials, equipment and site access for efficient operations.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, change orders and punch lists.
- Communicate regularly with project managers, owners, architects, and stakeholders to provide progress updates, resolve issues and maintain client relationships.
- Oversee quality assurance and control processes to ensure finished work meets project requirements and industry standards.
- Monitor project costs, report variances and support budget controls to reduce cost overruns.
- Mentor and lead site teams, promoting best practices and continuous improvement in field operations.
- Perform travel-ready superintendent duties: mobilize quickly to new sites, perform initial site assessments, and establish site teams and schedules on arrival.
Qualifications
- Required: OSHA 30 certification.
- Required: Proven experience as a Superintendent on commercial projects, with specific experience in Retail, QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) and Industrial sectors.
- Required: Minimum 5 years of hands-on field supervision experience on commercial construction projects (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Required: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, geographically dispersed projects and to travel frequently for extended site visits.
- Required: Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills, with a focus on client service and team development.
- Required: Valid drivers license and the ability to travel domestically as needed.
- Preferred: Proficiency with construction management platforms such as Procore.
- Preferred: Familiarity with preparing site documentation, RFIs, change orders and cost tracking tools.
