Job Purpose and Scope

As an Assistant Buyer, you'll collaborate closely with the Buyer and vendors to analyze market trends, ensuring our product offerings are on point. You'll assist in financial planning, product development, and assortment strategies. Your daily responsibilities will involve managing communications, orders, analyzing style performance, vendor meetings, and design collaborations to ensure the timely delivery of orders, fit samples, and packaging needs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in vendor selection and nurturing vendor partnerships
  • Monitor industry trends and assess competition
  • Provide input for merchandise strategy and product selection
  • Assist with setting up new merchandise in the item database
  • Develop sales unit performance reports
  • Analyze style performance by season or delivery to understand best and worst sellers
  • Coordinate and catalog merchandise samples
  • Manage timely placement and maintenance of purchase orders
  • Contribute to the Retail Operating Forecast
  • Assist in establishing pricing strategy
  • Execute markdown projections and provide data for vendor allowance negotiation
  • Participate in planning and approving advertising and promotions
  • Analyze style advertising effectiveness
  • Offer feedback for space strategies (fixture/square footage)
  • Participate in training and development.
  • Support a team environment and engage in team activities
  • Foster job satisfaction and positive morale

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field required.
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Assistant Buyer, preferably in a major department store preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, preferred
