Internship Overview

Single Parent Provision (SPP) is seeking a part-time Communications intern to assist the Communications Manager in marketing and communication efforts to help further our mission. This internship is an excellent opportunity to better understand communication in the non-profit world and gain hands-on experience through project-driven learning. Qualified candidates will be self-starters with good time management skills, able to work both independently with limited direction as well as collaboratively within a team setting, and in agreement with our statement of faith.

Reports to: Communications and Finance Manager

Start and End Dates: Summer (June 15 – August 14)

Hours: Part-Time; M-F 15-20 hours/week; occasional nights and weekends required

Compensation: $50/week stipend

Location: Onsite at our office; hybrid option possible, if needed

SPP is a consistent presence in the lives of single parents and their families providing intentional care, practical supports, and pathways for single parents to grow in faith and community. Our mission is to glorify God by partnering with single parents to help strengthen their lives and the lives of their families. We provide a variety of programs, services, resources, and events for single parents and their families.

Responsibilities & Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Assist in planning and creating communication campaigns for our Single Parent Groups and 15th Annual Single Moms Christmas Dinner; includes photo, quote, and content management
  • Conduct research for creating SPP Branding Guide and other communication projects
  • Managing promotional materials for our upcoming Single Parent Groups 2026-2027 season
  • Capture, edit, and organize photos and videos at our summer Break Time programs and Christmas in July event
  • Attend team meetings and assist in conducting project-related interviews
  • Other tasks and research as assigned
  • Present findings, projects, and summary of internship to staff

Qualifications and Expectations

  • Education: pursuing a college degree (sophomore and up) or recent graduate in a related field (e.g. Communications, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design)
  • Experience creating content for business/organization for various social media platforms and other digital communications
  • Excellent writing and creative thinking skills
  • Proactively engages in projects by seeking clarity, requesting new challenges, and introducing fresh ideas to improve outcomes
  • Experience conducting interviews
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe Suite is beneficial but not required
  • Related work or volunteer experience is beneficial but not required
  • Must be in agreement with, sign, and abide by SPP’s statement of faith
