Position Summary
The Patient Navigator is responsible for guiding patients through the healthcare system, ensuring timely and appropriate care, addressing barriers, and connecting patients with resources. They advocate for patient needs, promote patient satisfaction, and facilitate communication between patients, their families, and healthcare providers. This position ensures patients have the support they need to understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and navigate the complexities of healthcare services. This position requires a compassionate, highly organized individual with a strong knowledge of the healthcare system, the ability to advocate for patients, and the communication skills to help patients navigate their care journey effectively.
Minimum
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in healthcare or patient-facing roles.
- Strong understanding of healthcare systems and patient advocacy.
Desired
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, social work, or a related field.
- Experience working in a medical or clinical setting.
- Knowledge of financial assistance programs.
Desired
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certification in Patient Navigation or Health Advocacy.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Strong ability to understand and address emotional needs of patients. Ability to handle multiple tasks, appointments, and patient cases simultaneously. Ability to address and resolve barriers to care, such as insurance issues or transportation problems. Understanding of healthcare processes, insurance, billing, and community resources. Strong capability to advocate for patients’ rights and ensure their needs are met. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and social workers.
