About CASA of Placer, Yuba & Sutter

Since its founding in 2004, CASA of Placer, Yuba & Sutter has operated as a dedicated nonprofit organization with a singular focus: to uplift the lives of foster youth and families in crisis. At the heart of our mission is the recruitment, comprehensive training, and unwavering support of community volunteers. These volunteers become Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for foster youth and compassionate Family Mentors for at-risk families, serving as pillars of strength and stability for those navigating the complexities of the child welfare system.

Our advocates provide essential, consistent support to children and youth who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Employing a child-centric and trauma-informed approach, our volunteers focus on building trusted, one-on-one relationships with the children and families they serve. This foundational connection ensures that the child's voice is heard and their best interests remain the top priority in all court-related proceedings and advocacy efforts. We diligently prioritize each child's health, safety, and overall well-being, championing their right to thrive.

The ultimate goal is to support the safe and successful reunification of children with their parents, whenever possible. Our advocates work collaboratively within the system to ensure families receive the resources and guidance needed to create a stable home environment. However, when reunification is not a viable or safe option, CASA volunteers dedicate themselves to ensuring the child is placed in a safe, nurturing, and permanent home, whether through adoption or another permanent arrangement.
