Director of Preconstruction

1. THE ROLE: WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO HERE.

You’ll lead our preconstruction effort from first pursuit to signed contract - owning estimating, conceptual budgeting, scope development, and client relationships throughout the sales process. You won’t be executing someone else’s strategy - you’ll be building ours.

- Drive the full preconstruction process across GC, design-build, and CM-at-Risk delivery methods

- Lead and develop a team of estimators - mentoring the next generation of preconstruction talent

- Serve as the primary client-facing leader through the pursuit and preconstruction phases

- Collaborate with operations, design partners, and subcontractors to produce winning, buildable estimates

- Shape our “go/no-go” strategy and invest our time where it wins

- Leverage industry terminology and project specific knowledge to demonstrate credibility and command the room

- Represent the company at industry events, with owners, and in the community

2. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: THE RIGHT EXPERIENCE, IN THE RIGHT HANDS.

This role requires someone who has genuinely done the work - someone who can read a set of drawings, challenge a subcontractor’s number, and still make a client feel like the most important person in the room.

- 15+ years in commercial and public construction with meaningful preconstruction or estimating leadership experience

- Deep familiarity with conceptual estimating, value engineering, and constructability review

- Proven track record of winning projects - not just pricing them

- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience

- Strong written and verbal communication - you can present a budget and tell the story behind it

- A reputation in the local subcontractor and design community that opens doors
