SUMMARY

  • The Global Trade Manager is responsible for overseeing all international trade compliance and transportation activities for the aerospace division. This role ensures adherence to U.S. and international trade regulations and oversees logistics, carrier relationships, and regulatory risk. The position serves as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, customs authorities, brokers, and freight carriers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Global Trade Compliance

  • Lead and manage all import and export compliance activities in accordance with applicable regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, U.S. Customs).
  • Manage daily import and export operations, including entry filings, broker coordination, licensing, and regulatory submissions. Conduct end-user verifications and compliance reviews.
  • Perform entry audits and support valuation reconciliation processes.
  • Support duty drawback claims, post-summary corrections, and protests.
  • Resolve complex import/export issues and regulatory exceptions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies including U.S. Customs, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and other Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Support internal and external audits, investigations, and compliance reviews.
  • Identify compliance risks and support prioritization and implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to trade automation initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support testing and validation of trade data elements (e.g. classification, valuation, export controls).
  • Develop and deliver training related to import/export regulatory requirements and updates.

Transportation and Logistics Management

  • Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with trade, transportation, and dangerous goods regulations.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, brokers, and carriers.
  • Negotiate and maintain freight rate agreements and volume-based pricing discounts.
  • Monitor shipment status, manage expedites, and serve as escalation point for logistics issues.
  • Lead resolution of lost, delayed, or damaged shipments and associated claims processing.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to shipping accounts, data discrepancies, and system errors.
  • Process monthly freight reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP, Operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations (EAR, ITAR, Customs compliance).
  • Working knowledge of international trade regulations and global compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with automated trade systems (e.g., DECCS, SNAP-R, ACE).
  • Trade certifications such as Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to assess risk and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of experience working with import/export compliance, including EAR and ITAR.
