Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive Quality Supervisor to lead quality assurance activities within a food production environment. The role is responsible for ensuring products meet regulatory, safety and customer standards by overseeing inspection programs, driving continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methods, and coaching production teams on quality best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day quality control and assurance activities across production shifts to ensure product conformity and safety.
- Develop, implement and maintain quality systems, procedures and documentation (including HACCP, CCP monitoring, corrective actions and traceability).
- Conduct routine inspections, sampling and testing; review results and initiate corrective and preventive actions as needed.
- Manage non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis and supplier quality issues; track and report trends.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and Six Sigma tools to reduce variation, waste and defects.
- Train and mentor production staff and quality technicians on quality standards, GMPs and food safety protocols.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and support certification activities (e.g., BRC, SQF, ISO).
- Prepare and present quality metrics, reports and recommendations to operations and senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, R&D, procurement) to resolve quality challenges and implement process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of quality assurance experience in a food production environment, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
- Working knowledge of food safety systems and standards (HACCP, GMPs, allergen control; experience with BRC, SQF or ISO is an advantage).
- Practical experience with Lean manufacturing and proficiency in Six Sigma tools; Green Belt certification preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical process control, root cause analysis and corrective action management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to train and influence production teams.
- Proficiency with quality management software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
