About Penn State Health Medical Group Contingency Pool
HOURS OF OPERATION
The typical hours of the position will range from 8am-4:30pm but can vary between 7am-5:30pm depending on clinic needs.
SUMMARY
Licensed Practical Nurses within the contingency pool will be trained to work in any of the clinics within the Penn State Health Medical Group. Contingency Pool LPNS’s will receive a premium pay to compensate for their flexibility and adaptability as this position requires traveling to different clinics on and off (Hershey) campus. EKG’s, injections, suture removals, wound care, obtaining patient health history and vital signs, point of care testing, assisting with biopsies, lab abstractions, prescription refills, and phlebotomy. You should be able to demonstrate nursing expertise, flexibility, resilience, ability to work under pressure, effective and professional communication, interpersonal skills and teamwork. You will serve as a patient advocate and nurse liaison to the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
WORK SCHEDULE
A 4-week schedule is given 3 weeks ahead. Being in the contingency pool you will always know what day you’re working but will not know what clinic you’re working until 6:30 am that work day.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Base Pay + Premium pay included for working in the contingency pool. Locations vary and will impact premium rate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma required.
Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current license to practice in the state - of PA or eligible for licensure in PA required.
BLS required.
One (1) year experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to stand & sit constantly; walk frequently.
Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs. frequently; 11-50 lbs. occasionally.
Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs. frequently; 21-75 lbs. occasionally.
Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.
