Electrical Engineer/ Draftsman
Location: Danbury CT
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inside Sales Application Engineer to join our team and support our Outside Sales Team.
Electrical Engineer or Electrical Draftsman for Panel Design
Salary Range based on experience: $75,000- $100,000
Entry to Midlevel Electrical Design Engineer position. Looking for a highly motivated individual with creativity to “get the job done no matter what”. Preferred Utilities is a manufacturer and supplier of combustion and fuel oil systems with headquarters in Danbury CT. With over a hundred years as a family run business, we offer made in the USA products in all areas of combustion and fuel oil systems.
The Electrical Design Engineer (EDE) creates the wiring diagrams and selects the panel components to create a system that is robust and adheres to customer’s budget. The EDE works closely with project managers and is usually part of a team also involving our systems engineers and mechanical design team, to produce a packaged system that works together seamlessly.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design Development from Proposal to finished Engineering Package
- Use AutoCAD to create wiring diagrams and enclosure layouts
- Perform basic electrical component calculations to determine panel design
- Research components and create Bills of Materials for their designs
- Review customer specification documents to ensure compliance
- Interpret and adhere to applicable codes and standards
- Assist applications engineer to generate proposal
- Slight travel for meetings and site visits 10%
Basic Requirements
- 4-year electrical engineering degree
- AutoCAD or Draftsight experience required
- Experience with electrical assembly preferred
- Experience being measured against monthly goals
- Strong Microsoft Office experience
- A desire to continuously improve
- Familiarity with burner management systems is a plus
- Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications
- Good communication skills
- Good time management skill are a must
