Title: Data Center Engineer

Location: Council Bluffs IA

Duration: 5+ months

Role Summary

This role support data center damage control program by inspecting damaged parts, determining whether they can be repaired, and identifying items that are unusable. This role is both hands-on and collaborative, with a strong focus on reducing future damage through process improvement and cross-team influence.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged parts coming through the damage control flow
• Verify whether parts can be repaired or must be flagged unusable
• Perform detailed inspection and basic repair work when appropriate
• Track inspection outcomes and register damaged parts in the documentation system
• Identify recurring damage trends and escalate process issues
• Work with other teams to improve handling practices and reduce damage
• Help define and improve SOPs and inspection standards for unique or new parts
• Support standard practices for moving, handling, and protecting parts in the data center

• CPUs
• DIMMs
• Drives
• Debugging and troubleshooting knowledge
• Strong attention to detail
• Good people skills and influencing skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Basic spreadsheet and documentation skills
• Ability to investigate issues and identify root causes

Preferred Background

• Data center experience preferred, but not required
• Server repair experience
• Hardware repair experience
• QA/testing experience
• Enterprise repair experience
• Manufacturing experience, especially hands-on manufacturing work
• Experience from a data center or ex-Google background is a plus
• Certifications are helpful but not mandatory
