Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining, improving, and beautifying campus grounds, including lawns, athletic fields, landscaping, and hardscapes, to ensure a safe and attractive environment for students, faculty, and visitors. This role generally involves year-round, physically demanding, outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

Landscaping & Turf Management: Mowing, edging, and trimming lawns; planting, pruning, and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers.

Grounds Cleaning: Raking leaves, weeding, and clearing debris from sidewalks, parking lots, and walkways.

Seasonal Maintenance: Removing snow and ice, spreading salt on walkways, and preparing for campus events.

Equipment Operation: Operating and performing minor maintenance on mowers, tractors, blowers, chainsaws, and utility vehicles.

Waste Management: Emptying campus trash and recycling containers.

Safety & Compliance: Applying pesticides and herbicides according to safety regulations; reporting hazards to supervisors.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

1 year of previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field.

Valid driver's license in good standings.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working at a university.

Proposed Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Physical Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects (often 50¿100 lbs).

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in uncomfortable positions for long periods.

Conditions: Frequent exposure to loud noise, fumes, dust, and extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
