Position Summary: The Literacy Specialist plays a critical role in student academic success by designing, implementing, and coordinating targeted reading and writing interventions. Literacy development is further driven by administering and interpreting formal and informal assessments, analyzing data to shape instructional focus, and maintaining accurate records to share with administration, teachers, and parents.
Beyond direct student impact, the position emphasizes strong teacher collaboration and community engagement. This includes partnering with classroom teachers to co-plan differentiated reading lessons, leading professional development workshops, and modeling research-backed methodologies like the Science of Reading, while curating high-quality curriculum materials and digital tools. Finally, a vital home-school connection is maintained by providing parents and guardians with practical at-home literacy resources and conducting regular meetings to discuss assessment results, intervention plans, and student milestones.
