THE OPPORTUNITY:

  • We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to build and lead our finance and accounting function from the ground up. The ideal candidate can operate at both the tactical and strategic levels, building scalable financial processes while helping leadership drive profitable growth and operational discipline. You will be a key strategic partner to the leadership team, responsible for establishing the financial infrastructure, controls, KPIs and reporting that will support our scalable and profitable growth trajectory. You will report directly to the Co-Founder and CEO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Partner directly with the CEO and leadership team on all financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial models.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive business performance.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities; recommend and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Accounting & Controls
  • Own the full-cycle accounting function: transaction entry, GL, AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, month-end and year-end close.
  • Build and enforce a strong internal controls environment appropriate for a high-growth company.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared accurately and on time in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
  • Systems & Process Building
  • Help select, implement, and optimize accounting systems and financial tools (billing, expense management). Work with our internal team and outside vendors to integrate the financial and accounting systems into the company’s overall operating systems.
  • Design and document scalable financial processes and policies as the company grows.
  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements across finance and back-office operations.
  • Compliance & Reporting
  • Oversee external PEO/HR vendor; and coordinate all tax compliance (federal, state, local), licensing, and regulatory filings.
  • Prepare timely, accurate financial reports and board-level presentations.
  • Develop and track KPIs related to revenue growth, labor productivity, gross margin, service performance, and cash conversion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or equivalent leadership role.
  • Proven experience in a high-growth, entrepreneurial, or startup environment.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
  • Experience leading full-cycle accounting operations, including close processes, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High degree of integrity, attention to detail, and ownership mentality.
  • Experience in the business services, mechanical, or field services industries.
  • Track record of building an accounting and finance function or team for a young, high-growth company.
  • Experience implementing or scaling ERP/accounting systems in a growing organization preferred.
