Part-time Preschool Assistant for 2026-2027

Assumption Catholic School is seeking a preschool teacher beginning this fall. The position will start August 26th, 2026, or until filled and last until the end of the school year. Orientation may be on a day in August, and therefore please let the office know any conflicts that may arise.

Classroom Management

• Assist/support the lead teachers in presenting the academic program to students.
• Prepare materials and offer suggestions in the planning process with teachers.
• Help with student coordination and classroom management.
• Work individually with students and in small groups to support developmental skills.
• Know the licensing requirements and keep student information records accordingly
• Supervise students in the classroom, outside, and during breaks.
• Alert the lead teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Collect and display suitable material for educational displays; prepare displays; decorate classroom.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Perform a variety of tasks such as planning lessons, communicating with families, photocopying, etc., as required.
• Perform related work as required.

Reports to: Preschool Director/Elementary Principal

Hours Of Duty

• 5.25 hours per day/ 15.75 hours per week: Mon/Wed/Fri. (7:30am to 12:45pm)

Rate Of Pay

Salary: This is negotiable based on experience. This ranges from $19 to $21 per hour. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

Qualifications: (Only qualified applicants will be reviewed.)

• AA degree in ECE or equivalent (qualifications for assistant teacher can be found here: https://www.dcyf.wa.gov/sites/default/files/pubs/EPS_0037.pdf )
• Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR, First Aid, Food Handler's permit
• Childcare basics (or equivalent) for teaching Early Childhood Education (30-hour requirement)
• Portable Background Check required
• Willingness to promote and educate Christian values and Biblical teachings.
