Mavis Tire - UX Director

Position Overview

The UX Director serves as the strategic leader who oversees the user experience, product strategy, and technical execution for brakesplus.com and expressoil.com. The Director acts as a trusted advisor to the C-suite, translating high-level business objectives into seamless, high-converting digital experiences while mentoring a cross-functional team of designers and developers.

Core Functions

  • Executive Voice: Serve as the primary digital advisor to C-suite executives to shape and deliver the multi-brand website vision.
  • Product Strategy: Lead cross-functional teams to break down complex business problems into actionable, on-time product deliveries.
  • Product Management: Oversee day-to-day project lifecycles, team communications, and development efforts from planning to execution.
  • Coach & Mentor: Develop team talent and standardize modern UX/UI processes, artifacts, and tools across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Consult with C-suite executives to align digital initiatives with overarching corporate business objectives.
  • Influence stakeholders and facilitate decision-making to prioritize the upcoming product roadmap.
  • Present performance analysis, ROI metrics, and digital health share outs regularly to executive leadership.

Product Management & Technical Execution

  • Drive value across the entire lifecycle from ideation, scoping, and definition to final product delivery.
  • Translate business goals and user data into user flows, feature maps, user stories, and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate development efforts across Agile teams, ensuring transparency, status tracking, and clear milestones.
  • Manage complex multi-brand architectures to ensure operational consistency across five distinct web properties.
  • Run Build vs. Buy analyses to evaluate third-party tools against in-house development.

UX Research & Experience Design

  • Evaluate end-user needs using qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, usability testing, and ethnography.
  • Design and facilitate design thinking, empathy-building, and ideation workshops for cross-functional teams.
  • Support the creation of omnichannel Journey Maps, Experience Maps, and Service Blueprints.
  • Partner with UI/UX designers to build testable prototypes that validate hypotheses for high-impact opportunities.

Optimization, Marketing, & Analytics

  • Partner with data analytics teams to launch new website initiatives informed by deep digital insights.
  • Own the Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) strategy by running continuous A/B tests on imagery, copy, and layouts.
  • Drive organic traffic acquisition by implementing robust Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
  • Lead website marketing implementation, asset organization, and promotional rollout strategies.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Coordinate with IT, Inventory, and Retail Operations to ensure website data reflects daily operational changes.
  • Provide technical guidance to the brand marketing teams to maximize the use of existing website functionality.

Other Responsibilities

  • Design System Governance: Oversee the creation and maintenance of a centralized UI design system to ensure brand consistency and scaling efficiency across all five web properties.
  • Digital Accessibility & Compliance: Ensure all digital experiences comply with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards and ADA legal requirements.
  • Data Privacy Compliance: Partner with Legal and IT to ensure user experience workflows honor CCPA, GDPR, and modern data privacy regulations.
  • Core Web Vitals Optimization: Collaborate with engineering to monitor and optimize site speed, performance metrics, and mobile responsiveness for better search rankings.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in product management, digital marketing, UX leadership, or digital strategy.
  • Leadership: Proven track record managing cross-functional teams of designers, engineers, and marketers.
  • Methodologies: Thorough understanding of Agile principles, scrum frameworks, and modern software development lifecycles.
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of UX/UI best practices, information architecture, and user-centric design principles.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong business acumen blended with the technical aptitude required to negotiate with engineering teams.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral, written, presentation, and workshop facilitation skills tailored for C-suite audiences.
  • Adaptability: High executive function with the ability to manage multiple shifting priorities with minimal supervision.
