Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

Balancing the Equation: NextShift STEM Lab is seeking motivated Albany State University students to serve as Temporary STEM Camp Instructors and Camp Counselors for an 8-week Summer STEM Camp program. This is a grant-funded position beginning with a paid 2-week introductory stipend period. Continued employment for the remaining 6 weeks may be offered based on performance, professionalism, and program fit, contingent upon available grant funding.

Selected candidates will support hands-on STEM instruction for students in grades 3¿8, assist with robotics, coding, engineering challenges, and literacy integration, and help maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

Assist with facilitation of daily STEM lessons and hands-on activities.

Support robotics, coding, engineering, and science lab experiences.

Supervise and mentor students in grades 3¿8.

Maintain classroom structure, safety, and positive behavior expectations.

Assist with setup, breakdown, and organization of materials and equipment.

Support math and literacy integration activities.

Communicate professionally with program leadership.

Follow all program policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as Assigned.

Required Qualifications

Current enrollment at Albany State University.

Ability to work Monday through Friday during program hours.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Dependable, punctual, and professional.

Ability to work effectively with youth.

Preferred Qualifications

Major in Education, STEM field, or related discipline.

Experience working with children or youth programs.

Experience with robotics kits, coding platforms, or hands-on STEM activities.

Previous camp, tutoring, or mentoring experience.
