JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary / Objective:

The Sr Manager Quality Assurance is responsible for all quality assurance related tasks within the Quality Assurance department. The position directly supervises other Quality Assurance Managers

Essential Functions:

  • Manage supplier approval processes.
  • Manage and coordinate supplier audits.
  • Manage product evaluation program.
  • Create and coordinate specification development.
  • Act as subject matter expert on all aspects of quality for food and non-food items.
  • Remain fluent in industry food safety standards to maintain strong quality and food safety standards for the brand.
  • Manage cold chain temperature management program.
  • Oversee restaurant quality complaint program.
  • Communicate with restaurants in response to vendor/product complaints.
  • Communicate with vendors to seek corrective action for product issues.
Competencies:
  • Expertise with HACCP, SSOPs, FDA cGMPs and FSMA
  • Effective leadership, organizational, problem solving/analysis and communication skills
  • Quality and or Food safety auditing experience in food manufacturing and distribution facilities preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in computer software such as Microsoft and Google Suite.
Supervisory Responsibility:

This position supervises the Managers, Quality Assurance positions.

Work Environment:

This job is based at Firehouse Subs Headquarters in Jacksonville, FL. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets. Some of the work will require exposure to manufacturing facilities (varying temperatures, loud noises and other conditions typical of manufacturing facilities) and distribution centers (varying temperatures, loud noises and other conditions typical of distribution centers) and company restaurants.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full time position, requiring a full eight hour work day (Monday through Friday), 40 hours per week.

Travel:

Travel will vary based upon requirements in the field and may be up to 30%. Overnight travel is expected and can be nation-wide or international. Some local travel during the business day is required as needed.

Required Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s or advanced degree / certification in food-related field is required for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience: * Field experience in the food industry:

5-10 years (Sr Manager), or 3-5 Years (Manager) * Experience with quality & food safety auditing / inspections.
  • Certifications recognized within the food industry.
